Summers of Fun

Hurricanes History

The Hanarry Hurricanes are a competitive summer swim team in the Gwinnett County Swim League, based out of the Hanarry Swim and Racquet Club in Lilburn, Georgia. As we celebrate our 53rd season, the Hurricanes are the oldest and last remaining of the original founding GCSL teams — a legacy built on decades of love, hard work, and community.

Our Philosophy

We seek to introduce every child to the sport of swimming through strong positive relationships with our coaches in order to develop a foundation of good technique and foster a lifelong love of swimming for athletes of all skill levels.

Summer swim is about improving yourself. Our program encourages swimmers to challenge themselves, build self-confidence, work hard with teammates, and embrace the fun-spirited environment that makes summer swim such a rewarding experience for thousands of swimmers across the county.

In addition to practices and meets, we offer team-building traditions and spirit events — like our weekly Fun Fridays — led by our passionate coaches and volunteers.

How It Works

Our practice schedule begins Monday, May 11th, and runs for seven weeks.

Swimmers will compete in five dual meets which will begin on Thursday, May 28 and occur every Thursday for five weeks.

When competing at these meets, swimmers may qualify for the GCSL County Championship. County qualifiers will continue practicing for an additional two weeks following the regular season before competing at the County Championship.

We are pleased to welcome swimmers of all experience levels — from beginning swimmers (see Learn-to-Swim) to experienced club athletes, and we would love to introduce your child to the sport of swimming.

For our youngest swimmers (ages 4–6), we offer a pre-team program called the Storm Chasers, which provides daily instruction in groups of 2-3 focused on getting kids comfortable in the water and developing foundational skills to become meet-ready.

Volunteer Commitment

Aside from our coaching staff, the Hanarry Hurricanes is an entirely volunteer-run organization. To make this possible, families must volunteer a minimum of 4 shifts during our weekly dual meets to ensure they run smoothly.

Volunteering is a rewarding way to learn more about the sport, connect with other families, and actively participate in the Hanarry community. We would love your help and any special skills you have to offer.

Sponsorship Opportunities

We are incredibly grateful for the businesses that support our team each season, because they enable us to invest in our swimmers year after year, and build into the future.
